Position: Special Education Paraprofessional
Location: Sharon, MA
Start Date: ASAP
Duration: 2025-2026 School Year
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:45 AM - 3:15 PM
About the Role
Sharon is seeking Special Education Paraprofessionals to support the SOAR Program at an Elementary School. This program serves students in grades K-2 and focuses on meeting the needs of the whole child. We are looking for candidates with a calm demeanor and a passion for supporting students with diverse needs.
Program Focus
Instruction in the SOAR program emphasizes:
+ Academic skills (core subjects and individualized instruction)
+ Social skills (peer interactions, play)
+ Access skills (navigating classrooms and school settings)
+ Behavior skills (de-escalation, conflict resolution)
+ Daily living skills (toothbrushing, handwashing, toileting)
+ Readiness skills (following directions, raising hands)
+ Communication skills (expressing needs, maintaining conversations)
Responsibilities
+ Provide direct support to students in classroom and school settings.
+ Assist with implementing individualized education plans (IEPs).
+ Support students in developing academic, social, and behavioral skills.
+ Help with daily living activities, including toileting when necessary.
+ Collaborate with teachers and staff to create a positive learning environment.
Qualifications
+ Experience in Special Education preferred.
+ Ability to remain calm and patient in a dynamic classroom setting.
+ Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
+ Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive environment.

Minimum Requirements:
+ High School diploma or equivalent required
+ Comply with all relevant professional standards of practice
+ Current CPR if applicable
+ TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable
+ Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)
+ Must meet all federal, state and local requirements
+ Must be at least 18 years of age
