Broadcast Engineer will be responsible for providing front-line broadcast engineering and technical support across multiple studios and control rooms within the Stamford Sports facility. The role involves supporting all broadcast systems and technology for live day-of-air programs, troubleshooting hardware and systems, complying with computer security policies, and managing projects that include system design, integration, and commissioning. This position requires a combination of maintenance and project management skills.
The support needs span seven days a week, with certain periods requiring availability as part of a 24x7 schedule. Day-to-day activities include performing system-level troubleshooting of technical facilities (control rooms, studio equipment, audio equipment, and associated computer systems), conducting preventative maintenance, assisting Studio Operations with technical setup, collaborating with production and operations teams to implement technical solutions, installing and updating equipment and systems software, repairing and troubleshooting equipment to the module level, and managing projects involving system design and commissioning. The role also includes special projects, maintenance, cleaning, call support, and constant updates in a fast-paced environment.
Requirements: Experience with Grass Valley routing, RTS Intercom, Calrec consoles, and related technologies. Knowledge of SMPTE 2110, experience in studio engineering or technician background required; production operator roles are not suitable. Experience in system design, AutoCAD, and project management. Understanding wireless audio and comms technologies, experience with 1080P and 4K HDR production, proficiency in Chyron systems. Self-starter, team player, empathetic, and ability to support a 24x7 production environment. Must be local, 100% onsite.
Core skills: EVS, Evertz routing, RTS, Calrec, Avid, Chyron, Sony cameras and switchers. Prior broadcast maintenance, experience with Sony cameras and switchers, EVS servers, Evertz IP networks and knowledge of digital TV (HDSDI). Ability to read and understand system signal flow diagrams. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, ability to perform under pressure, strong hands-on problem-solving skills, experience in live production environments, knowledge of computer server installation.
Basic Requirements: 2+ years of experience in a television broadcast environment or an equivalent combination of education and experience. BS degree in Engineering, Communications, or a related field or equivalent relevant experience. Proficiency with broadcast production systems and software, including audio consoles, intercom systems, video switchers, wireless audio, server-based playout, and test and measurement equipment. Understanding of TCP/IP.
Benefits: 6-month contract on W2. Schedule options include
