Overview:

Exovera,  an SOS International LLC (SOSi) company, is  seeking   an   Arabic Media  Analyst to join our team. Exovera provides a range of international media monitoring  an d  an alysis/ an alytics services for public  an d private customers. The winning candidate will be fluent in  Arabic   an d will be  an outstanding writer in English.  The  analyst must have  an   an alytic mind  an d a sophisticated understanding of local  an d regional current events. We are looking for some proven experience in high-pace fields such as international affairs/development, journalism, strategic communications, intelligence, political consulting,  an d the like.   Familiarity with Iraq  an d the surrounding region is strongly preferred. Experience with social media, information technology,  an alytics,  an d additional language fluency are also advantages. 

 

The  Arabic Media  Analyst is part of a 24/7 operation  an d must be able to work on  an unconventional  an d variable shift schedule, which may include overnight  an d weekend shifts. Shift work will include  an alyzing local, regional,  an d international print, broadcast,  an d social media sources. 

Responsibilities:

• Monitors  Arabic -language print  an d broadcast  news media sources  an d selects content according to ongoing  an d emerging customer requirements 
• Writes succinct synopses  an d  an alytic overviews in professional English highlighting  an d assessing key information 
• Contributes original  an alysis pieces on  Arabic media content  an d coverage 
• Interacts with a range of online tools, including media aggregators, social media applications, computer  an alysis systems  an d databases (training provided) 
• Responds to customer inquiries  an d correspondence 

Qualifications:

• Post-graduate degree in a relevant discipline such as International Relations, Political Science, History, Sociology, or related field, or  an undergraduate degree with significant additional directly applicable experience  
• Strong interest  an d knowledge of regional  an d global current events 
• Native fluency or near native fluency in Modern Standard  Arabic ( an d ideally, colloquial Iraqi dialect) is required 
• Additional fluency in Kurdish is strongly preferred 
• Proven skill  an d experience (at least 2 years) in professional English-language writing  an d sophisticated  an alysis 
• Ability to quickly process  an d organize large amounts of information  an d identify  an d assess items of greatest importance 
• Relevant monitoring  an d  an alysis experience,  an d skill at objective writing
• Comfort  an d experience managing information in a fast-paced environment 
• Strong organizational skills  an d attention to detail 
• Demonstrated comfort with information technology  an d multimedia software, including publishing  an d  an alytics tools 
• Maturity, honesty,  an d integrity 
• Ability/flexibility  an d temperament to work on a shift schedule, occasionally on short notice
